Frontier Pitts Crowded Places Traffic Control and CT System

Achieving the right level of security at a ‘Crowded Place’ venue such as The Shard; a the modern architectural skyscraper in the centre of London, can be challenging when there is a restriction on the foundation depth due to underground services and the underground transport network. Security requirements included the need to mitigate the terrorist threat and control access to authorised vehicle whilst ensuring the venue is functional and the public feel safe.

Crowded Places – HVM Physical Security and Traffic ControlThe HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation) Terra Shallow Blockers and Shallow Mount Terra Mars Bollards were installed to provide access control to the main entrance of the Shard whilst providing CT (counter terrorist) protection.

Unique Installation A pair of HVM Retractable Terra Shallow Blockers were installed with 1 no.Static Shallow Mount Terra Mars Bollard to secure the main entrance aperture and meet PAS 69 installation guidelines. This unique installation included the shallow PAS 68 Blockers being embedded at an angle in line with the elevation of the ground at the entrance point. Traffic lights fixed to the ceiling with the blockers control cabinets installed securely in another location completed The Shards main entrance.The Static HVM Bollard was finished with a Bead Blast Stainless Steel Sleeve
