Our expertise in design and manufacture is the result of over 80 years experience. Since Frontier Gate Systems and Pitts Security were founded in the early 1960’s, the company has been meeting perimeter security needs throughout the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. All Frontier Pitts products are British made and with 20 per cent of production exported, we currently have equipment installed in more than 91 countries worldwide. We maintain our position at the cutting edge of the foreign marketplace with satellite offices in France, Hong Kong and China. Frontier Pitts are listed on Government Approved Suppliers List and is also accredited by various other companies nationwide.

Frontier Pitts has been qualified to ISO 9001 standard.

Our products include manual equipment, automatic rising arm barriers, sliding gates, hinged gates, bi-folding speed gates, actuators, roadblockers, hydraulic bollards, pedestrian gates and turnstiles. All our products are available with a wide range of control options.

Following months of in-house design and computer simulations, Frontier Pitts have manufactured the new high security Anti-Terra Series.

The Terra Blocker was successfully impact tested by MIRA (Motor Industry Research Laboratory) independent Crash Laboratories, followed by the successful test of the Terra Bollards as single and a dual unit systems by TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) Impact Laboratories. The Terra Gate was also successfully impact tested in both the fully closed and half open positions by TRL. In all impact tests the equipment was fully functional after impact.

All impact tests were performed in accordance with the BSi PAS 68:2007 which surpasses the requirements of the US Department of State K12/L3 DOS standard. The test was conducted to prove the arresting capabilities of the equipment when impacted with a 7500kg test vehicle at a speed of 50mph (80kph). Frontier Pitts was confident in selecting the toughest test from the most difficult standard to achieve. Similar products are offered by competitors are only tested to the K4 standard which is conducted at a far slower speed of impact (only 30mph). Our Anti Terra range is on the CPNI Approved Contractors list.

Company History

Frontier-Pitts experience is based on over 70 years experience in the design and manufacture of the highly respected and well-established product lines of Frontier Gates and Pitts Security Gates.

FRONTIER GATE SYSTEMS was established in Birmingham in 1962.  The company was mainly involved with the manufacture of manual barriers, automatic barriers and roadblocker systems.  The company traded until 1987 when it was bought by Henderson. 

PITTS SECURITY GATES was established in 1964.  The company was mainly involved with the manufacture of sliding/hinged gates, hydraulic barriers, roadblockers etc.  This company was also bought by Henderson plc in 1987. 

Henderson bought and merged both companies and renamed them HENDERSON SECURITY GATES (part of the Henderson Doors Group).  With the combination of both product ranges it was hoped that the company would gain a larger share of the perimeter security equipment market.  In 1989/90 the company was brought by Hepworths.

In February 1991 FRONTIER-PITTS LTD was established. At that time the total number of staff was approximately 20.

In July 1992 the company moved to Crompton House.

In  November 1993, with the aid of government grants, FRONTIER-PITTS FRANCE was established in Nimes in the south of France.

Today, staff based in the office exceeds 85.
